IGOR wedding Photography travels to New Orleans

We didn't recently travel from hometown Dallas, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana just for the Crawfish, Gumbo and Oysters... Okay, maybe we did! But we also came for the culture, the unique atmosphere and that N'awlins feel, whenever we get an opportunity to shoot a bride or a wedding couple in Nola, we don't hesitate to catch a flight and create some amazing New Orleans wedding photography. New Orleans provided a variety of scenery with it's eclectic residents, the beautiful willow trees, massive oak trees and the southern French charm. We can't wait to our next New Orleans wedding or engagement/bridal shoot to explore more of what New Orleans and create some fantastic wedding photography for our clients.

Before leaving our hotel, the grand Le Pavillion, located on Poydras St., in the heart of everything wonderful about New Orleans we had access to Bourbon St, and the French Quarter within a few minutes of walking ! We had decided to map a game plan of some places or things that are iconic to New Orleans that we wanted to put our signature wedding twist on.

For all our images featured, IGOR wedding photography took a chance and created wedding magic! We didn't plan to stumble on a community of cyclist with decorative bikes or a jazz band for our couple to slow dance too. But we were there for the moments! Just as we are at every wedding IGOR wedding photography are invited to, we strive to be more then just the best New Orleans wedding photographers, we want to provide amazing wedding photos all over the world.

A must have shot for our New Orleans wedding photography was the iconic Streetcars, a common way for the locals to commute and for tourists as well ! It is scenic and comforting to watch the people around you as you see this lively city wiz past you. It was also a great way for us to spot some restaurants we wanted to try later on! We had the perfect bride and groom, all we needed was the perfect romantic moment. IGOR photography uses a journalistic approach when capturing engagement and bridal session and wedding day moments. We us an organic approach with subtle movements to create the perfect wedding Imagery, we are always looking for emotions and joyful moments.

Another location that we found of interest was the majestic City Park in New Orleans, where we shot a beautiful bridal session in the morning sunrise.

It was a beautiful lush park with moss covered oak trees that seem to hold a million years of stories. To see these trees in person, would leave you thinking " If only trees could talk!" it is also a perfect park to host a small intimate wedding, or a engagement session, we could have easily spent all day there.

IGOR photography chose City Park of New Orleans for it's vegetation and the trees that make up so much of the swamp and lake areas in New Orleans, we also chose this park due to a bridge we had found while doing some research prior. It's a steep arched bridge with rounded pebbles to complete it's design. It was a stunning accompaniment to our Naturally beautiful bride and her stunning  wedding gown.

Although, we chose many great locations to shoot while in New Orleans, there is one location we can not go with out mentioning, The French Antique shop, we agreed this one shot was epic, ( Okay and maybe also the delicious Crawfish at The Three Legged dog). The beautiful shop that was so gracious enough to let us use their charming place, a French Antique Shop, established in 1939 with it's otherworldly elegance. The lights, the chandeliers, everything just makes you want to buy the whole store and furnish your entire home!

An elegant wedding photo in a stunning French Antique Shop at the French Quarter

It was enough to have a stunning bride and handsome groom, but to be blessed with a stunning location that was saturated with everything a New Orleans bride could ask for was perfection. This classic little gem was tucked away on Royal St., when we passed it we had to double back and try our luck with asking if we could snap a few pictures, luckily for us they were gracious host, very accommodating and kind!

IGOR wedding photography thanks the entire city of New Orleans for letting us capture the essence of New Orleans wedding photography and to trek through your playground. We have no doubt we will be back to create more artistic wedding photos and shuck some more oysters!

Contact us today for your destination wedding in New Orleans, or to the Bahamas, and back to Texas. IGOR wedding photography provides you with emotional and timeless wedding imagery to last you a lifetime.

Barefoot bride at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, Plano, Texas

She floated down the hill, our "go with the flow", hippie-chic, style-conscience bride. In her blue toms & her friend trailing behind her holding the train of her beautiful bridal gown.

She was a sight to see ! The weather was cooperating with us today as we had moved this very bridal session at least once a week, trying to run from rain showers. We also hadn't quite found the perfect location for her.

Jennifer ( Bride) and I, had brainstormed several locations , 7 different ones to be exact before coming to the final decision of Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, in Plano for her natural bridal session.

It's a special location to her, because her and future hubby go walking at Arbor Hills Trails with their fur babies very often.

With it's combination of earthy lush hills, winding trails, sprawling trees & a few blooming flowers here and there. We figured we couldn't go wrong with this location, we hope to visit there again when the waterfalls & streams are at full capacity, another natural feature of this park.

We started our bridal session at the look-out tower, this gave us some variety from the natural greenery that Arbor hills nature preserve provides. We continued Jennifer's bridal session on a winding path where we found some blooming purple flowers and took the opportunity to capture the glowing natural beauty of our fantastic bride!

Our bride Jennifer, has often mentioned to us that at home she is carefree and barefooted! We definitely took that into account and wanted to see her personality shine in her one of a kind bridal session. She kicked off her shoes and just walked into the setting sun with her bridal gown gathered in her arms, playfully looking back at us with each click. It was easy to get our bride Jen to smile, with just a whisper of her fiancé's name it was all smiles!

We couldn't conclude this bridal session without, letting the orange twilight gently kiss the trees ! As, the sun set, we let our beautiful bride Jen reflect on her upcoming wedding day, as we captured her in a very relaxed state. This bride and her fiancé was also featured a few weeks earlier in their engagement session that we shot at the Fort Wort Stockyards, check out that blog to show you how IGOR wedding photography creates fine art for all of your wedding moments from start to ending .

Lights Festival Fine Art Bridal session, Grandview, Tx

It was another day in our Photography studio located in North Fort Worth, Texas and we were itching to do a bridal shoot! At IGOR Photography we are always trying to do something different whether it is at a wedding, portrait session or an event, just a little out of the box with creativity and our own personal style and editing .

It was while scrolling through social media, when my fiancé and I saw this lights festival coming to the Dallas area. Initially we were going to buy tickets for ourselves, it would make for an interesting date night right? Why not make a date night especially tailored for us, a styled bridal shoot it is!

We headed to our favorite bridal boutique located in Burleson, and found the wedding gown and veil that would complete this mini bridal shoot. Featured below: Enza by Maggie Sottero designs. A wedding dress with layered tulle-train and an embezzled belt to accent the waist. To that we added a beautiful cathedral length wedding veil with crystal edge. What a stunning combination!

Now, let's light the Sky! Our bride Sheridan, was a lovely sight to see. The lanterns weren't the only thing to light the sky that night as many people congratulated her with lighted torches and complimented her beauty, we played with perspective & depth of the many lanterns being set a sail to drift in the night air. It was an amazing fairy tale sight, a beautiful experience!

Technically and logistically this light festival bridal shoot was pretty demanding. We had to carefully set up the right flash lighting to light her up at night without overpowering the glowing light from the lanterns, that was important because we didn't want to kill that beautiful and magically lighted mood. Another even harder challenge was to time the exposures while avoiding capturing to many people walking around the bride. Like photographing a wedding, we had to get it right the first time, we really didn't have time to do any retakes, but with careful planning and execution we got exactly the shot that we had envision, and we had so much fun doing it!

This fine art bridal shoot for IGOR wedding photography, was a great way to capture the essence of what we love to do in a structured setting and on your wedding day, there are endless possibilities.

Botanical Gardens- Mei & Z

We met the lovely Siqi Mei & Zhiqi, whom we called 'Mei & Z' when they inquired through email needing pictures immediately because they were getting married in China in less then a few weeks! We were more then happy to fulfill their request and the deadline.

Our bride didn't want a typical engagement session, since she was getting married in China and had been living in Texas for the last 2 years of her life going to school and studying she wanted to capture her life here with her groom. She decided to dawn a gorgeous bridal gown from Pence & Panache and Z wore a suit from Neiman Marcus .

We began with hair and makeup provided by very talented Destinee Seawolf at our Studio in Fort Worth, Texas. Then we headed to the Fort Worth botanic garden, the bride was adamant about having a lush green scenery with pops of color, she chose the perfect location!

At the botanical gardens in Fort Worth we lucked out in the fact they had just finished a wedding ceremony, it provided the white chairs and gazebo covered in flowers and greenery.

Once the sun started setting, our bride got a little bit cold and we thought it was sweet that our groom kept her warm between each location change, he helped her with her coat, and we thought it would be nice to capture these tender moments we finished with the handsome groom catering to his beautiful bride by placing her coat over her shoulders.

We wish Mei & Z a lifetime of happiness, and a wonderful wedding & life In China & congrats on their expecting a child :)

Let IGOR wedding photography capture each special moment, from your graduation, wedding, family gatherings to first child !

Bridal Portrait Session at the W Hotel in Dallas

I have never shot at the W Hotel before, but while driving in Dallas I had passed this hotel with it's vertical high rising structure and funky, urban features many times before.

This hotel is any photographers dream, or anyone who appreciates cool features like mirrored walls, modern furniture and vibrant up-lighting. This was the perfect location for our fine art bridal sessions!

Our gorgeous bride Julie, featured here had a stunning dress that we really wanted to do justice, as well as capture all of the neat features that W hotel has to provide.

The W hotel has a stairwell, that gives a small ode to Texas with a toy horse & cowboy curtain framing the window in which we got some brilliant natural light.

While waiting for the sunset, we took advantage of the light outside and placed our bride in these cool swinging wicker chairs on W hotel patio area, to capture her natural beauty as well as some detail shots, such as her beautiful shoes.

As the sun started to lower in the sky, we decided too take a ride in the elevator to a level they called 'Altitude' once reaching the floor, I understood why, we were at least 30 stories high and the wind was howling.

Greeted with cloud covered walls, we moved outside to see a blue infinity pool. The winds were probably at their highest this day but Igor Wedding Photography sought this only as a creative challenge, to produce some true Fine Art Images.

Our Bride Julie, mentioned the 33rd floor. We once again got on the elevator, after arriving on the 33rd floor, Julie relayed that this is where she was having her wedding reception. The walls are textured metallic mirrors, and is like a swanky, luxurious club, but the real standout of this room is when you transition to outside, with amazing panoramic views of downtown Dallas.

We choose this area to give our Bride Julie some stunning Bridal Imagery of her dress and encapsulate the scenery of downtown Dallas.

As we were leaving and saying our farewells, the Photographer in me never stops my eyes from wondering to top what I just created, after seeing that I was surrounded by floor to ceiling mirrors, I asked my bride to just look at herself & admire her own beauty in the ceiling mirrors, to create a last look to wrap up this session.

If you would like to experience Igor Wedding Photography, and create one of a kind Fine Art Photos, please contact us right now to book your Bridal ,Engagement, Boudoir or Wedding photography today.

The Portrait & Legend Of Sankta Lucia

Today on December 13th, it's Sankta Lucia (Saint Lucy) day, and to honor this beautiful Swedish tradition, I created my version of the Swedish Sankta Lucia.

For many, many years Lucia has brought faith, hope, and a reason to believe in good things to come during the darkest time of the year.

Santa Lucia will bring us light and hope in the darkest day of the year.

Her legend stems from Syracuse on the island of Sicily. It is thought that during a time when the rulers of the land did not look favorably upon Christianity, a woman named Lucia had devoted her life to God and the poor. She gave her entire dowry to the poor, and the man she was to marry was very upset by this. Lucia was put on trial, refused to renounce her Christian beliefs and was declared a witch. She was to be burned at the stake but when the guards tried to light the fire it would not light. Ultimately, she was stabbed, became a saint and legend.

Several countries in Europe celebrate Saint Lucy day. I grow up with this holiday tradition in Sweden and it's very close to my heart. I hope you like my Sankta Lucia!

Sunset bride at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden

We always enjoy to photograph weddings and bridal portraits at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth, it is the oldest botanic garden in Texas, a 109 acre living museum with over 2500 species of native and exotic plants, providing endless variety of scenery for weddings, bridals and engagement photos.

Our beautiful bride Charity chose the "Lower Rose Garden", at the right time of the year this garden has thousands of fragrant rose blossoms that pleases the sight and the senses. The highlight of The Rose Gardens is the grand entrance, that gives a European elegance and scenic views of the entire garden, originally inspired by Italy's renowned Villa Lante.

The rose gardens is the perfect outdoor settings for weddings, bridal portraits and intimate parties.

Green is the new White, Eco-friendly Weddings

Want to leave a green foot trail on your big day?

We have compiled a list of fun and inventive ways that actually cushion your bank account, accommodate your guest and add lasting memories to your wedding in an Eco-friendly way.

When it comes to being more Eco-friendly most people associate this movement with more cost but it doesn't have to be.

  • Glam-squad

Did you know there are environmentally conscious makeup lines, with green in mind? For instance a company named RMS $36, the product not only nourishes your skin, they put special care into the packaging which is made from recyclable glass & recyclable aluminum lids.

- The Lip Bar Lipstick $20, sounds like a lot but compared to other brands like Mac, they are about the same price, except The Lip Bar provides the ecological factor, using natural & organic ingredients.

  • Say Cheese - Eco-conscious Wedding Photography

When it comes to our wedding photography, we try to leave a green thumbprint in many ways as well! Here at IGOR Photography we provide you a link to a gallery that lets you, friends, family and loved ones access your pictures, share and download them and choose the ones that you want printed or framed. Try to cut down on the paper-trail by asking your photographer for digital photos. That way you can look at them online and choose which ones you would like to print, before requesting them all to be printed. If you want more ways to be Eco-friendly, you could also see if your photographer fits your green values with this simple check list.

Does your wedding photographer use:

- rechargeable batteries,

- non-toxic ink

- 100% post-consumer waste paper

- LED or CFL bulbs

- Recycling

Are we there yet?

Not only do we want all of our guest to arrive on time and safely at the given destination, but why not add a green stamp to it as well? We can kill two, or 3 birds with one stone with these simple ideas.

Have you choose a venue for the ceremony or reception yet? If not, try to choose a venue that can be acceptable for both or if it has to be two different locations try to make them close and have one large van that can transport everyone in one large or a few short trips instead of everyone taking their own car. Carpooling, or an energy buss/trolley work for this purpose as well to cut down on emissions.

  • Be Charitable.

Be Eco-chic. Most brides never think of this last option and for some it may not even be an option! But if you are one of the few who decide that you took pictures of your beautiful gown and that's the  best way it will be remembered, you possibly would like to donate your gown after the big day. Let someone else make memories of their own in your dress.

other options:

- Family gowns have fit and altered.

- Eco-friendly wedding designers (they exist)

- Eco-couture gowns

-One time wear bridesmaid dresses

  • Something to remember me by.

Party favors:

This simple element of every wedding can be extravagant or as small as you'd like, but let's be honest most of these trinkets are destined for the garbage can, adding to the already amounting waste we have in the world.

Think green! Give gifts that are sure to be used or at least re-gifted.

- Soy candles

- Potted plants

- Edibles

Charity Donations:

After all, wedding favors can cost upwards of hundreds of dollars for all guest, another non tangible idea could be making a small donation in honor of each guest to a charity that is important to you and your groom.

No matter what your style and taste, there or endless ways that your wedding can echo volumes to the contribution of the green revolution.

Something Blue & Saying I do

When it comes to the important details of your wedding, it all boils down to the intimate details that you can look back on and cherish.

That's why I love the longstanding superstition behind a well versed chant, known to many brides to be.

Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue,
And a silver sixpence in her shoe!

The Something old is to represent the brides family/heritage or anything from her past that is dear to her that she is carrying into the future

Tips & fun ideas :

Some brides like to (If handy) have a piece of their mothers or grandmothers dress or veil sewn into bouquet or the inside pocket of the new dress, an even better idea if you have the budget have the dress your grandmother/mother wore custom fitted to you with modern touches added to fit your present style.

Other ideas?

  • Necklaces, pearls, beading representative or belonging to someone dear to you added to dress or bouquet.
  • Do you have a old love note/letter hubby- to be wrote you ages ago? Fold that up really small and seal it in your bouquet as well, or wear it in the bodice of your dress, close to your heart.

Something new:

This symbolizes your future with your husband and starting a new life. Most likely your dress that you're wearing or your shoes are new, and that can fill most requirements but if not, usually a gift from groom to be before the ceremony or the brides parents and/or bridesmaids.

Something Borrowed:

This can be vary in different ways to many brides. This can be a gift that is presented from a friend or mother that is happily married, bringing good fortune to you on your wedding day and in your marriage.

Ideas?

  • Earrings that person presenting gift wore on their own wedding day.
  • a garter is a fun idea as well and the most traditional, just make sure to bring a back up garter, so hers doesn't get tossed in the activities.
  • a venue/city, are you getting married in the same chapel or city your parents did? This can also be considered your something borrowed and also bringing a closer bond to your parents, their son-in-law and you.
  • wrap your dads tie around your bouquet to make an elegant statement.
  • a veil from mother or grandparent.

Something Blue:

This part of the rhyme is by far the most interesting a symbol of fidelity and love. Did you know white wasn't even considered a traditional color until late 19th century? It was Blue, like The Virgin Marys clothes in Christian Art. Something blue, is where brides like to get the most creative!

  • Blue stitching in the hem of the gown, with "something blue" written or initials, dates, and cherished words.
  • Ribbons, flowers or sapphires delicately placed in the hair or the bouquet.

Fun ideas?

  • Have your bridal party write brief personal notes on the bottom of your heels with a blue sharpie or a new trend "tar-dis-blue" it's small vinyl decals that can be put on the bottom of your heels ..or cake, wedding invitations, or centerpieces .
  • I've even seen blue henna tattoos in place of the garter, (something the groom can't take off but definitely admire on the honeymoon).

and last but not least, a sixpence (equaled to 6 pennies) in her shoe, placed in the left shoe or taped to bottom to bring good luck and wealth.

  • Can be as simple as a penny or whichever coin you choose.
  • Want to be authentic? Check Amazon or Google for actual sixpence coins and have it delivered before your wedding day.

Don't stress if you can't meet all the requirements, following these traditions is a fun way to create new lasting memories in your marriage.

Classy Bridal Photography in Fort Worth

This is a classic and dramatic bridal session with Niloo in downtown Fort Worth. We got some amazing photos during a cold winter day. I love shooting bridal portraits and bring out the beauty and personality of the bride. I took the freedom to create a dramatic stormy sky on one of the photos since we had a pretty dull overcast day.

Great Gatsby Bridal Photography at the Art Deco T&P Station

Since I love the 1920's style and Art Deco architecture, it was a real joy to photograph a Great Gatsby inspired bridal shoot for the Pence & Panache bridal boutique. The T&P train station in downtown Fort Worth was a perfect setting for this photo shoot. The architecture is stunning and made a great backdrop for the beautiful brides with amazing Great Gatsby inspires dresses and accessories.

All weddings that incorporate Art Deco styling and Great Gatsby bridal and wedding photography have always been one of my absolute favorites themes to photograph, it's visually stunning with rich colors, patterns and details. A wedding photographers dream!

The glamorous 1920's brides lived in an era where music was made for dancing, the champagne was flowing and the fabulous wedding dresses and jewelry took a leap into the future. The elegance and glitz was at it's peak and people did not spare any money into making grand events and weddings. The whole area seemed to be a big extravagant party, an epoch of fantasies that has made a huge mark on today's fashion, furniture and architecture.

Enjoy these two beautiful Art Deco brides at the historic T&P station, we had a great time Photographing Izzy and Tayana. Let us know what you think about this styled shoot?

Bridal trash the dress portrait session at Lake Worth

This was an epically fun shoot! We went to Lake Worth in Fort Worth to photograph my version of a classy "trash the dress bridal portrait session". I wanted a more unique take on the trash the dress session with water, something sexy and fashionable edgy. It was all about the mood and the light during the shoot, we started at sunset and got lucky with a really nice sunset and we continued photographing through the night. The beautiful bride Katie was a real trooper, she had to fight off bugs, stings and critters through the night. We are very pleased with the results, what do you think?

Fort Worth bride photography - Sexy in the city bride

As promised here is last weeks bridal session!

What better day than on a beautiful April spring night to have a bridal shoot in downtown Fort Worth. We decided to do a night shoot by Fort Worth's Sundance Square. The theme was "sexy in the city bride", with a moody and a little darker urban feeling.

What a blast, it was a fantastic night and I had a great time working with Kate, my assistant Daniel and hair/makeup artist Micaela.

I'm very happy with the outcome, it turned out exactly how I had envision it. What do you think?
