Preparing for your wedding photo-shoot: the beauty checklist

Planning and organizing your wedding day require plenty of preparation. The limo, bridesmaids, venue, caterers, wedding photographer, etc. And with all that planning it can be easy to neglect your beauty regime. You want to look your very best in the photos. Let’s not stress! Making sure you look and feel amazing for those memorable shots is easy once you’ve got a plan. Here’s how to put together a beauty checklist to get ready for that special photo-shoot.

1.       Glossy hair

Choosing a style, that you love and a stylist that you trust is one thing but looking after your locks in the buildup will help you achieve glossy hair for all of your wedding pictures. So, stick to washing every other day at most, otherwise you risk stripping your hair of its natural oils and luster. Avoid excessive heat from drying and styling where you can and treat your hair to a deep conditioner at once a week.

Using the right products for your hair type is key. One of the most important parts of your pre-wedding hair care routine is to use quality products and to make sure they’re right for you. Whether you’ve got fine, thick, curly or straight hair, or low, medium or high hair porosity, this is really important. For example, those with high porosity hair are better using gentler products than others. Matching up the right product with your hair type is the best way of keeping it in great condition.

2.       A gorgeous smile

Your hair’s on point, the dress looks amazing and now you are photo-ready. it’s time to smile. This is your special day and you’re going to be smiling from ear to ear, so you want your teeth to look their absolute best.

Follow a daily oral hygiene, consisting of brushing twice, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash. Visit your dentist to get tips and consider getting your teeth whitened if that’s something you’d like to do. Smile for the camera!

3.       Fresh face

A fresh face goes hand in hand with a gorgeous smile and glossy hair. The best way to ensure your skin is silky smooth come the big day is to eat well, drink plenty of water and follow a solid skincare routine. Here’s how:

·         Eat well. Adding plenty of fresh fruit and veggies to your diet will help your skin get the nutrients it needs to glow for those photos. Also, cutting back on fatty and sugary foods will help prevent breakouts.

·         Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is essential to keeping your skin healthy. Get dehydrated and it’ll show up in dull and dry skin. Not what you want when the wedding photographer starts clicking.

·         Follow a skincare routine. As with hair, it’s key to establish your skin type, and use quality products that are suited to you. From there you can follow the tried and trusted four-step method: cleanse; gently exfoliate; tone; and moisturize.

4.       Body beautiful

Following a healthy diet and staying hydrated will support you in so many ways; fresh skin, weight control, glossy hair, shiny teeth… you get the picture. But combining this with an exercise routine will give everything a boost.

Not only that, you’ll have more energy to get on with the wedding planning and be able to stress-bust when things get a little hectic. Exercise can also give your confidence lift when you need it most – perfect for wedding photography posing!

That’s it! Four simple steps you can take to make sure you are photo-ready come the big day. Put them into practice, enjoy your wedding, and look forward to some amazing photos!
